What is Syntonic Light Therapy (Syntonics)?
Syntonics, or optometric phototherapy, is the branch of ocular science dealing with the application of selected light frequencies through the eyes. It has been used clinically for over 80 years in the field of optometry with continued success in the treatment of visual dysfunctions, such as strabismus (crossed eyes), amblyopia (“lazy” eye), and eye-focusing and eye-teaming problems. It has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of traumatic brain injury, emotional disorders, and the aftereffects of stress and trauma.
Syntonics can help to enlarge “functional” visual fields, which increases peripheral vision and can improve visual processing, coordination, and visual-related learning issues. In addition, it can also restore balance between the sympathetic (“fight or flight”) and parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) nervous systems.
Syntonics can be used as the primary treatment or to support other therapies to aid in the remediation of visual issues mentioned above. A comprehensive eye exam is the first step to determine whether you or a loved one would benefit from vision therapy and/or Syntonics.
